‘Not happening’: Nottingham Forest gem slated for latest display on loan, he’s ‘off the pace’

Alex Mighten has drawn criticism from Yorkshire Live after being handed a rare start for Sheffield Wednesday last night.

The Forest winger played the full 90 minutes against Leicester Under-21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.

The game proved a dead rubber with both teams bowing out of the competition at the group stages.

Wednesday won the game 2-0 with Callum Paterson and Will Trueman scoring the goals for the Owls.

For Mighten, he was handed a run out by Darren Moore as he looks to get the Forest man up to speed.

He played on the left wing as the Wednesday incumbent linked up with a flexible 4-4-2 system.

Despite playing in a position he is usually accustomed to, it wasn’t his night and that’s a cause for concern.

Mighten hasn’t got going at Wednesday just yet and last night he was playing against academy players.

Yorkshire Live weren’t particularly impressed with his showing last night and gave him a 5/10 for his showing.

They claimed in their player ratings article: “Off the pace. Too often his decision-making let him down. Struggled to make an impact. It’s just not happening right now for the Nottingham Forest loanee.”

Mighten gets criticism and Wednesday spell is becoming a nightmare

This is becoming a bit of a problem for Mighten. He joined Wednesday to play and ultimately he’s not doing so.

Forest would be silly to recall him given that he can only play for the Reds or Wednesday for the remainder of this season.

It hasn’t all been his fault. Moore doesn’t always play a style that suits him and that is proving somewhat problematic.

Still, there isn’t really an excuse for not producing the goods when called upon and last night was a big opportunity.

This is a big loan move for Mighten and right now he’s doing little to convince anyone back at Forest that he can have a future at the City Ground.

The next few months look massive for the young Reds talent.
