Matt Upson claimed on Amazon Prime last night that he couldn’t believe Nottingham Forest hadn’t had a player yellow-carded.

The former Reds loanee made the claim at half-time of a 0-0 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Forest toiled in the first 45 minutes and were very lucky not to go in at the interval at least a goal behind.

It was an improved defensive display by Forest and they did manage to edge off the bottom of the Premier League with a draw.

Brighton could have gone fifth had they claimed a victory at the AMEX Stadium but the Reds stood firm.

This wasn’t a performance that typified Steve Cooper’s style of play and will hope for more of an attacking threat as the season progresses.

With the scores level at half-time, Upson admitted he was stunned that Forest didn’t have a yellow card.

He told Amazon Prime: “We can see from the stats that Forest haven’t had a yellow card and I’m really surprised at that.

“When you’re doing a lot of defending and things aren’t going your way, you at least want to see some fight.

“I’m surprised that not a single player yet has gone roaring into a tackle, mistimed it and collected a yellow; even if just to get the crowd going!”

This was definitely a fair point made by the former England central defender.

Upson simply wanted a Forest player to show some fight in the first half and nobody really did that.

All too often since winning promotion to the Premier League, Forest have been passive and haven’t been at the races.

That was the case during the first half last night when Forest looked like rabbits in the headlights at times.

The Reds did have a man booked late on when Remo Freuler saw yellow for a tactical foul.

Forest did show lots of fight in the second half but it was definitely a valid point that Upson made during the half-time interval.
