Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on Steve Cooper after Nottingham Forest shocked Liverpool at the City Ground.

Taiwo Awoniyi struck on 55 minutes to send the City Ground into pandemonium and give Forest a big three points.

The big striker scored his third goal of the campaign as he pounced to down his former club.

The Brazilian wasn’t at his best as Ryan Yates, Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate won the midfield battle.

Forest won the day and Carragher lauded Cooper for his work.

The Reds incumbent was under pressure earlier in the season and at one point it was feared he might lose his job.

Now, he’s penned a new three-year deal and Carragher took to Twitter after yesterday’s game.

He put on social media: “Steve Cooper has changed Forest in the last few weeks to be a lot harder to beat, tactically very good again today.

“Liverpool were awful. What is going on with Fabinho? Konate is needed back ASAP!”

Fabinho was signed by Liverpool for £43.7 million in 2018 and he’s been instrumental to Klopp’s team.

Now, he’s facing a bit of a confidence crisis and the hope will be that he can rediscover his very best form.

The former central defender has spoken fondly about Cooper previously.

Carragher has been very complimentary about the Reds incumbent and he was at it again yesterday.

The Reds were good value for their win and Cooper kept his rearguard sturdy, whilst also looking to get Forest on the front foot.

Cooper’s team created chances and did a real job on a Liverpool side that looked devoid of ideas.

Now, the challenge for Forest is to show this sort of fight on a more consistent basis.
