Nottingham Forest-bound forward Gustavo Scarpa has claimed he’s anxious about joining the club in January.

The Reds have agreed to bring the Brazilian to the City Ground once his contract expires with Palmeiras.

Scarpa has enjoyed a brilliant 2022 with the top-flight club but a move to Europe is a dream for the player.

Forest have won the race to sign the 28-year-old and it will be interesting to see what he can bring to the team.

Scarpa has scored 12 goals and claimed 14 assists during 2022 with Palmeiras close to being crowned champions.

Now, he’s been quizzed over his move to Forest and he admits to feeling some reservations.

He told UOL: “It’s a weight of, like, if you play badly, people will say you don’t have your head here. It was a conflict of emotions that I managed to deal with really well, thank god.

“I’m already a little anxious by nature. I’m going to fulfil one of my biggest dreams, so I don’t want to confuse things and end up losing focus.

“The club’s doctor is Portuguese. That will make things a little easier to learn about the city and such.”

This is only natural but a bit of anxiety might actually be a good thing.

The Reds will be getting a player who will see this move to Forest as a last-chance saloon when it comes to starring in Europe.

As a result, he will be determined to prove his point and make sure he’s a success in England.

Furthermore, Scarpa is arriving at an age where he should be at his peak.

The Reds will be intrigued to see how the player gets on and the fact he can play in a number of positions will be useful.

Scarpa is seemingly a done deal to Forest and he must be itching to get going at his new club.
