Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has said he’s happy to be working with new sporting director Filippo Giraldi.
The Italian was appointed earlier this month after Evangelos Marinakis chose to make some changes behind the scenes.
Giraldi was added to the ranks from Watford and some fans had wondered what was going on at the club.
The former Hornets employee was responsible for some seriously high-profile signings at Vicarage Road.
He was influential in bringing Richarlison, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ismaila Sarr to the football club.
Forest will hope he can work similar magic at the City Ground and Cooper is happy to be working with the sporting director.
He told Nottinghamshire Live: “The role of a sporting director is, I think, a good thing for the club.
“It’s the modern approach and the modern way, so we should be looking to do things like that.
“You have to have an open mind to all these things.
“Both of us are working really hard to spend as much time together as we can and get a good feeling for each other and what we believe in.”
Cooper happy to be working with Giraldi
Despite what some fans might want to believe, it would see Cooper is happy with this decision by the hierarchy.
The Italian figure had an abundance of experience and it’s no surprise that Forest have chosen to appoint him.
Cooper seems happy to be working with him and hopefully, the duo can have a useful relationship together.
It will be interesting to see just how hands-on Giraldi will be and that will be intriguing to discover.
Cooper is a coach that fits the modern-day mantra of being adaptable to new techniques and methods.
He’s very willing to adapt and change things during in-game situations and as a head coach he could go all the way to the top.
His immediate challenge will be to quickly learn what Giraldi is all about and convince him to back him with the key decisions he makes.
