Les Dennis has told TalkSPORT (25/10; 09:34am) that he thinks Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest because Thiago was absent.

The Reds shocked the six-time Champions League winners, with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring the game’s only goal.

It will hopefully give Forest a catalyst to start climbing up the Premier League after a pretty turbulent start to the campaign.

Liverpool were left shellshocked by the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp typically reeling off a string of excuses for his team’s performance.

Forest will now hope to kick on. As for Liverpool, they face Ajax tomorrow looking to bounce back.

Dennis is currently starring as Grandad in a West End adaptation of the nation’s favourite sitcom, Only Fools and Horses.

He’s a lifelong Liverpool fan and he thinks one late call cost his team the chance of a victory.

The actor told TalkSPORT (25/10; 09:34am): “Saturday was such a disappointment to us.

“On the morning of the game, there was a last-minute change with Thiago.

“I think you saw how much we missed him and not signing another midfielder looks to be costing us.”

Thiago was always going to be a big miss for Liverpool on Saturday.

The £20 million signing from Bayern Munich is a big player for the Reds and he was sorely missed.

Ryan Yates, Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate were all magnificent and dominated a young Liverpool midfield.

Dennis thinks Liverpool lost to Forest because Thiago was missing

The Liverpool supporter is probably right with this assessment.

Thiago would have been a welcome omission from the team sheet when it was announced from a Forest perspective.

He has been dictating games for years and his passing radar is elite.

His absence allowed Forest to win the midfield battle and even Jordan Henderson couldn’t help in that sense.

Take nothing away from Forest though.

They played remarkably well at the weekend and they thoroughly deserved to win the game.

Dennis was pretty gracious in defeat but he’s right to question whether or not Thiago would have made the difference.
