Ex-Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has told The Kelly and Wrighty Show that Nottingham Forest will still be relegated this season.
Talk turned towards Forest after their epic 1-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday at the City Ground.
The Reds defied the odds, ruined a few accumulators and made a mockery of people’s Super 6 predictions by beating Liverpool.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored the game’s only goal on 55 minutes and a resolute Forest stood firm for a famous victory.
Now, the challenge is to keep picking up points wherever they can and make a genuine fist of trying to remain in the Premier League.
Sherwood was asked to discuss the win for Forest and although he thinks they will put up a fight, he’s adamant that relegation is on the cards.
He told The Kelly and Wrighty Show: “I think it’s a bright spark which their fans are delighted to see.
“It’s going to be right down to the wire. I believe that they will get relegated but it was a real bright spark.”
Sherwood is typically renowned in the world of punditry for stating the obvious.
It’s fair to say he’s hardly said anything particularly groundbreaking here, either.
Not too many Forest fans are expecting anything other than a brave fight against relegation over the course of this season.
Still, it was nice to enjoy a moment in the sun and the challenge for Forest now is to prove that it wasn’t a flash in the pan.
Sherwood says Forest will be relegated
It’s hardly a bold prediction really considering the start Forest have had and the fact that they still remain bottom of the league.
Saturday’s win was massive, with plenty of other teams also claiming big victories.
Forest deserved to beat Liverpool at the weekend and naturally, their fans will spend the next week buzzing.
Forest and the Anfield giants have a long-standing rivalry and it will smart them to lose to the team bottom of the Premier League.
The challenge is to gain some consistency for Forest. Maybe then Sherwood and his pundit pals can start to be a bit more positive about the Reds.
