Alan Shearer has claimed that he’s been very impressed with Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper recently.
The former Premier League striker named the Reds’ incumbent in his Team of the Week after he masterminded a 1-0 win over Liverpool.
That result represented a second successive clean sheet and the team’s second win of the season.
Forest are still bottom of the Premier League, although their recent win has kept them in with a fighting chance.
Cooper saw his future at Forest come into question earlier in the season.
Frankly, that’s a ridiculous concept that he was in danger of the sack and the club are now reaping the rewards of keeping him.
In recent weeks, Shearer has been impressed by the Welshman and commented on him after Saturday.
He said on the Premier League website: “What a win. His changed tactics are working brilliantly at the minute.
Cooper has made Forest tough to beat in recent weeks.
The Reds were conceding at an alarming rate a month ago and something had to change in that respect.
A recent performance against Brighton wasn’t pretty but they left the AMEX Stadium with a brilliant 0-0 draw.
On Saturday, the Reds followed that with a win and it has lifted morale on Trentside.
Shearer very impressed with Cooper
The former Swansea manager has been a revelation during his time at Forest.
In just over a year at the club, he’s led them from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League.
On Saturday, Forest beat Liverpool at home and it’s been a remarkable transformation since he took over.
The Reds have found the Premier League difficult so far.
With Cooper at the helm, however, supporters will keep the faith that this season can still be a good one.
