A report by The Athletic has claimed that Lewis Grabban appreciated Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal for Nottingham Forest against Liverpool.
The former striker and club captain was back on Trentside to watch his former teammates claim a memorable win.
Grabban has signed a contract with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ahli but their campaign doesn’t start until next month.
The veteran talisman chose to leave Forest at the end of last season after rejecting a new contract offer.

Grabban had spent four years on Trentside and he helped the Reds win promotion to the Premier League last season.
He bagged 13 goals during 2021/22 and was a popular figure inside the dressing room among the squad.
Grabban has been one of the best strikers seen at the City Ground in recent times and he left with the club’s best wishes.
He fired 56 goals in 149 appearances for the Reds and he’s never scored as many goals for another club during his career.
The Athletic claims that he caught up with his former teammates in the tunnel after Saturday’s win.
It’s also thought that Grabban was said to be very impressed with Awoniyi and his cool finish from close range.
The 25-year-old tapped into the roof of the net after his first effort from a Steve Cook cross had struck the post.
His goal saw him given the seal of approval from Grabban and his confidence should be sky high right now.
Grabban appreciated Awoniyi’s goal
The former striker and ex-Liverpool player Awoniyi aren’t too dissimilar in one sense.
Grabban fought tooth and nail to try and convince supporters of his quality but some just wouldn’t budge.
He had to fight against a constant barrage of critique and Awoniyi has found himself in the same boat.

The man signed from Union Berlin has scored three goals this season and he’s coping quite well with the Premier League.
When he has missed chances, however, fans have been quick to get on his back.
That doesn’t seem overly fair in all honesty, with Awoniyi still getting up to the demands of English football.
Grabban appears to be a fan of the Nigerian though and hopefully, he can kick on at Forest after his Liverpool heroics.
