Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Pablo Maia from Sao Paulo and have told the club how much they’d be willing to pay.
The defensive midfielder is available for transfer and Fulham are also keen on his services.
Maia has already been the subject of a failed £7.5 million bid from the Cottagers and they’re likely to return.
The Sao Paulo star is viewed as a wonderkid and has already played 57 times in the senior ranks.
Maia has been a regular in the team during 2022, scoring three goals and collecting 12 yellow cards.
Forest have now informed Sao Paulo exactly how much they value the player as they prepare another swoop on Brazil.
The reds have agreed on a deal to bring Gustavo Scarpa to the club once the January window opens.
Now, they want Maia to come to the City Ground too and will pay £9 million to land the midfielder.
According to the Brazilian media, via Sport Witness, the Brazilian club are already preparing for his departure.
Fulham will have a big say in the situation.
They look to be on course to end their yo-yo trait this season and have started 2022/23 well.
Forest keen on Maia
This would definitely be a signing with one eye on the future.
Maia is a useful player but he’s one that might not be signed with the here and now in mind.
Forest have a number of midfield options in their ranks after a busy summer.
Remo Freuler, Cheikhou Kouyate, Lewis O’Brien and Orel Mangala were all signed by Forest.
Ryan Yates is also at the club, with Jack Colback waiting in the wings too.
Maia would still be a useful addition to the ranks and Forest shouldn’t put planning for the future on the back burner.
One thing this does highlight is that it seems as though Forest will be spending more money in January.
