A worrying clip of Nottingham Forest star Moussa Niakhate has emerged from one of the club’s latest videos.

The defender hasn’t played since a 1-0 win over West Ham back in August.

Niakhate hurt his hamstring during that game and at first, it was feared the injury wouldn’t be that bad.

Now, two months down the line, the 26-year-old appears no closer to making a City Ground return.

On Saturday, Niakhate was on Trentside as the Reds defeated Liverpool 1-0 to claim a second win of the season.

Some footage, however, has shown the Senegal international still using crutches and that can’t be a good sign.

The player looked the part during the two games he’s played.

He was very useful at Newcastle as Forest dug deep but lost and then he played extremely well on home soil against West Ham.

Niakhate signed for the Reds during a hectic summer of transfer activity.

He swapped Mainz where he had been the captain for 18 months to sign for Forest in a deal worth £13 million.

It now seems almost certain that he won’t play for Forest until after the World Cup.

Having been called up by Senegal during the last international break, it seems likely that he will miss the Qatar tournament too.

Worrying clip of Niakhate has emerged and Forest need him back

It’s going to be a real battle for Forest during the second half of the campaign.

Hopefully, the team can get through the next three games and stay in touch with the teams around them.

That should give Forest a platform to work from when Premier League football makes a return at Christmas.

Niakhate will be an integral part of the fortunes at Forest this season.

Although Steve Cook and Scott McKenna and striking up a decent partnership, Forest will need other options.

Niakhate has the top-level experience and Steve Cooper will be desperate to have him back in the ranks as soon as possible.
