Steve Cook has lauded Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White during an interview with the Daily Mail.

The Reds’ central defender has been a surprise inclusion in Steve Cooper’s team during the 2022/23 campaign.

It would appear that Cook is fancied by Cooper and he looks like remaining integral as the season progresses.

He’s been one of the influential figures in the head coach’s young team and his experience could be crucial.

As for Gibbs-White, he is one of the few players who can hold his head up high this season.

He’s slowly but surely making his mark at Forest and his form has largely been good.

Gibbs-White is Forest’s club-record signing and naturally, fans are expectant that he can produce the goods.

Cook has been impressed with his performance levels and had praise for him during an interview with the Daily Mail.

He said: “Morgan Gibbs-White is technically brilliant. We have a wide variety of players who can hurt teams and definitely hurt me in training.”

The central defender has been there and seen it all when it comes to the Premier League.

He’s not been everyone’s cup of tea this season and some of his performances have left a lot to be desired.

The 31-year-old is a model professional though and clearly, he’d recognise a good player when he sees one.

Gibbs-White has largely been useful at the City Ground and there is more to come from him.

Forest have to keep progressing and the 22-year-old will be an important creative spark this season.

Last season he came of age on loan at Sheffield United.

He bagged 12 goals and claimed 10 assists as the Blades reached the play-offs in the Championship.

Forest will hope to kick on during the second half of the season.

As a result, they will need Gibbs-White to start firing in the goals as quickly as possible this term.
