Nottingham Forest Under-21s secured another good win last night, with Oliver Hammond showcasing some fine form.

The Reds defeated Norwich City 4-1 in a game which took place at Alfreton Town’s stadium.

Hammond has been a mainstay in the team this season and he’s also appeared in the senior ranks.

The talented Wales Under-21 international was on the bench against Newcastle and West Ham in the Premier League.

He was in the same position for a Carabao Cup game against Grimsby but did get on during that win.

For now, Hammond will be doing his best to ensure he keeps learning his trade with the under-21s.

Dave Rogers has steered the Reds out of a difficult period at the start of the season.

Forest lost their first four league games during the 2022/23 campaign, shipping 12 goals in the process.

But since losing 2-1 to Newcastle, the Reds have turned a corner, winning four of their last five.

Last night’s win has moved the team up to seventh in the division and they now sit just one point off a play-off place.

Hammond was in fine form during last night’s win and he deserves the plaudits for the performance.

The Forest head coach was clearly impressed with the youngster during pre-season.

He spent the entire programme working with the senior squad and deservedly took a place on the bench for two games.

Hammond didn’t get on the pitch but just making the squad will have done his confidence the world of good.

The 19-year-old has already had a taste of first-team football.

He played against Grimsby earlier this season and also made a League Cup appearance last season.

Last night, he scored and set another up during ag same where he was asked to play as a number 10.

Ateef Konate led the line and he also got on the scoresheet, along with Alex Gibson-Hammond and an own goal.

Hammond looks like being a decent player in the future and his latest performance will have caught Cooper’s eye.
