Steve Cooper made a tactical tweak on Saturday and Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White seriously benefitted.

The Reds went with their club record signing playing through the middle in a natural number 10 role.

Emmanuel Dennis and Brennan Johnson started the game as the two strikers and it was a moe that worked out.

It gave the 22-year-old license to roam and he drove at the Brentford defence throughout the clash.

It was probably the best performance that Gibbs-White has made since arriving for an initial £25 million in the summer.

The youngster opened his account for the Reds with a well-taken goal that deflected and curled beyond David Raya.

He was quality throughout the game though and his performance was about more than his goal.

Some statistics from Who Scored showcased exactly how useful he was against Brentford.

Gibbs-White made three key passes, won two aerial challenges and managed to have seven shots.

He also attempted 31 passes in total, completing 83.9% of them.

The summer recruit is slowly but surely getting up to his best form and Forest will hope to see more from him as the season progresses.
