Djed Spence could be in line for an appearance against Nottingham Forest tonight. Tottenham arrive at the City Ground in the Carabao Cup and it would seem that the 22-year-old is surprisingly satisfied with his situation.

Spence moved to Tottenham in the summer. The move he called a dream is quickly becoming a nightmare though and it seems as though a loan move might be on the cards for January.

The Athletic has claimed, however, that Spence isn’t anywhere near as frustrated with the situation as the club’s supporters are. They believe the player is completely in agreement with Antonio Conte that he has a lot to learn.

It’s thought that the ex-Forest man is said to understand the need for patience. He also believes that training with world-class players and an elite head coach every day can only benefit him.

Spence was a revelation for Forest last season. He was signed on transfer deadline day during the summer and made 44 appearances for the Reds as they reached the Premier League.

The rapport he struck up with the Forest fan base was heartwarming. Rarely has a loan player delivered such a consistent display of form and most supporters hoped he’d be signed permanently.

Spence could be in line for Tottenham appearance but it’s not guaranteed

Given Conte’s comments this season, don’t pin your hat on seeing Spence at the City Ground tonight. Matt Doherty is also short of minutes and the Tottenham boss could choose to give him the minutes instead at the City Ground.

For now, Spence might need to wait patiently. It would seem as though he’s putting the extra hours in though and that should stand him in good shape with the taskmaster that is Conte.

Forest fans would dearly love to see Spence on Trentside again. It seems likely that he’d get a rousing reception from the fan base and the 22-year-old would relish that atmosphere again.

Spence appears to be leaving no stone unturned in his quest to impress Conte. He will hope that the extra hours he’s putting in will soon earn him a proper chance to impress on matchday.
