Former Nottingham Forest striker Glenn Murray has praised Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard after the Reds beat Tottenham.

Forest finally arrived with a dominant display for the first time since they won promotion to the Premier League.

The challenge for the Reds now is to ensure they kick on in the league and show the same level of commitment in those games.

Forest need to climb off the bottom of the Premier League and they could desperately do with a win on Saturday.

The Reds face Crystal Palace at the City Ground in the final game before the World Cup break.

Both Lingard and Lodi were signed by Forest during a summer that saw them add 22 new players to the squad.

It’s fair to say they’ve not always produced the goods but last night, both players did well and Murray was impressed.

He told the Carabao Cup Highlights Show on ITV: “Lingard does well, he shows real determination to win the ball.

“Then Lodi, he cuts inside and places a fantastic finish into the far corner.

“I think it’s nice to see Lingard back in form and enjoying himself.

“Hopefully, he can now take that form into the league.”

Both players haven’t been anywhere near as bad as some supporters would have you believe.

As high-profile additions, however, it’s fair to say the expectation level was high when they arrived.

Ultimately both Lodi and Lingard have spent their careers playing with better players.

Moving to Forest will have been something of a culture shock and they’re slowly but surely getting up to speed.

Last night, they were fantastic and both players deserve a huge pat on the back.

Lingard in particular will feel he has a lot to prove having rejected West Ham during the summer.

As for Lodi, he’s been unfortunate that he’s happened to play in games where Forest have been thrashed.

Both players will be buoyed going into the Crystal Palace game and they’ll both hope to earn another start.
