Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright has lauded Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White after his heroics yesterday.
The 22-year-old scored the game’s only goal as Forest defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at the City Ground.
Gibbs-White scored for the second Saturday running as Forest injected life into their battle against relegation.
The result means that Forest won’t go into the winter break for the World Cup at the bottom of the Premier League.
Palace were no match for the Reds yesterday, with Forest the better side throughout the contest.
Wright was desperately impressed with Gibbs-White who scored the winner on Trentside.
He said on Match of the Day: “He’s a fantastic young player.”
Wright has a soft spot for Forest. That much is evident whenever he talks about the Reds.
Gibbs-White scored yesterday and naturally, the discussion turned to his valuation.
Forest paid £25 million upfront to land the attacker, with the fee possibly rising to £42 million.
At this stage, that doesn’t matter.
The Reds are a better team with Gibbs-White in it and he clearly loves playing at the City Ground.
His goal yesterday was an opportunistic effort but he more than deserved to find the net for his efforts.
Gibbs-White lauded by Wright on Match of the Day
The youngster is really starting to showcase what he’s all about to the Forest fan base.
He scored yesterday after Brennan Johnson’s initial effort was spilt by the Crystal Palace goalkeeper.
There will be more to come from Gibbs-White.
It’s only natural that when a player costs so much money a return in the way of goals and assists is expected.
Gibbs-White is definitely improving in that sense and Forest have a real player on their hands.
Wright is a Premier League legend and receiving praise from him will only serve to boost the confidence of Gibbs-White.
