Blackpool are looking to re-sign Josh Bowler from Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window. According to Football League World, the Tangerines are desperately keen to bring him back to Bloomfield Road.

Forest plucked Bowler from Blackpool on transfer deadline day in the summer. In a surprise turn of events, they decided to immediately loan him out to Olympiacos on a season-long deal.

Bowler has found regular game time hard to come by though. Since Michel replaced Carlos Corberan, the trickster has struggled for game time and his loan deal could be terminated.

The 23-year-old will be craving some game time during the second half of the campaign. He would surely welcome a return to Blackpool having scored twice in seven appearances for them earlier this season.

Bowler doesn’t look to have an immediate future back at Forest. They have clearly snapped him up with one eye on the future and it will be interesting to see what the Reds do have planned for him.

During Bowler’s time at Olympiacos, he’s played just four times in the league. He’s yet to register a goal contribution and it seems almost certain that something else will be on the horizon for him in January.

This could be a move that suits all parties. Bowler badly needs to play football and him doing so will only benefit Forest in the future when he returns to the City Ground.

The versatile winger was fantastic for Blackpool last season. He caught the eye of Forest during a 2-1 win for the Reds at the City Ground in November where he dazzled throughout.

Bowler was a surprise signing by Olympiacos. Although it was abundantly clear he’d go somewhere on loan, many presumed that he would stay in England – possibly with Blackpool.

Now, he could get the chance to return to Bloomfield Road. He was enjoying his football under Michael Appleton earlier in the season and a return to the club wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
