Joe Worrall has compared Nottingham Forest star Ryan Yates to Rambo during a heartfelt interview after Saturday’s win.

The Reds defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at the City Ground to haul themselves away from the bottom of the table.

Worrall returned to the starting eleven for the first time in the Premier League since a 3-2 defeat over Bournemouth in September.

The 25-year-old played exceptionally well alongside Willy Boly and the clean sheet was exactly what they deserved.

Yates has been growing with each game he’s played in the Premier League and continues to prove his critics wrong.

He’s played 15 times during the 2022/23 campaign and has captained the side in six of those outings.

Worrall came through the youth academy at the same time at Yates and the pair go a long way back.

After Saturday’s game, club captain Worrall spoke to the press and he praised Yates on Forest’s YouTube channel.

He said: “It was almost like a Championship game, the ball was being launched long, and we were scrapping with players.

“We needed to do lots of running, Yatesy was running all over the pitch like Rambo and that’s what football is all about.”

The 24-year-old midfielder has been one of the Reds’ best players during the last couple of months.

He’s growing with each performance and he’s slowly but surely adapting to the Premier League.

Yates has had his critics throughout his career. He doesn’t take much notice of the stuff written about him though, focusing solely on his football.

Forest need a player like Yates within their ranks. He’s a heart-on-the-sleeve type of player and he always gives his all.

It was also nice to see Worrall return to the team for a Premier League match and he will want to keep his place.

There is something romantic about homegrown players featuring in the senior ranks.

In Yates and Worrall, Forest have two players who will always give their all in order to try and win three points for the club.
