Nottingham Forest-owned player Richie Laryea has shared a post on Instagram of him reuniting with former superstar Kaka ahead of the World Cup.

The Reds player is currently on loan with Toronto FC having failed to make an impression at the City Ground just yet.

Laryea wanted regular action to ensure he received a World Cup call-up and his loan has had the desired effect.

The 27-year-old is expected to start for Canada at the tournament in Qatar and it’s an exciting time for the nation.

Kaka took to Instagram after meeting with Laryea to receive a shirt from a former teammate.

The pair played alongside each other for Orlando City and clearly, they struck up a bit of a friendship.

Laryea spent some time with the MLS outfit back in 2016 and he spent two years at the club before moving to Toronto.

Kaka was one of world football’s top talents and he achieved an impressive trophy haul during his career.

He won the World Cup with Brazil, two league titles and in 2006/07 he helped AC Milan with the Champions League.

Laryea’s career clearly hasn’t gone quite as well but nonetheless, he’s still a very talented player.

He has made just five appearances for the Reds and it remains to be seen what the future holds after 2022/23.

It’s quite something that a player on the books with Forest is such good friends with a player who was among the world’s elite.

Kaka stopped playing in 2017 and he can look back on a brilliant career for both club and country.

The player was a wonderful performer and his goal against Manchester United in 2007 goes down as one of the best ever in the Champions League.

Laryea could have worse role models than the Brazilian.

He will hope to enjoy a strong World Cup and then return to Forest in the summer with the intention of making a fist of things in England.
