Nottingham Forest star Remo Freuler has been given the nod to start for Switzerland against Brazil this afternoon.
He will line up in midfield alongside Arsenal star Granit Xhaka who will captain the team once again.
Switzerland will progress to the knockout stages if they can shock Brazil today.
Freuler struggled to get into the team when he first checked in at the City Ground.
Now, he’s an established member of the midfield and has started the last seven Premier League fixtures.
His attention right now is solely on World Cup glory and this will be a stern test for Switzerland this afternoon.
Brazil didn’t really need to get out of first gear to beat Serbia in their opening game.
They are fancied by many to go well in this tournament though and are currently the favourites with the bookies.
Switzerland did well to emerge victorious against Cameroon in their first game.
Breel Embolo was on hand to score just after half-time to give them a 1-0 win and a big three points.
Freuler given the nod to start for Switzerland
The Forest man received some unfair criticism after his first couple of Forest appearances.
In recent weeks, however, he’s been magnificent and Forest are extremely lucky to have him in their squad.
His top-level experience should be vital in Forest’s fight against relegation and a strong World Cup could help his confidence.
Freuler is calm and composed and he will likely need to call on that trait to thwart Brazil.
This will be a really tough test for Switzerland but they will hope to give a good account of themselves.
