Nottingham Forest have officially announced the signing of Brazilian forward Gustavo Scarpa. The announcement ends weeks of speculation and now the 28-year-old can get to work on the training pitch.

It’s been the worst-kept secret in Nottingham. Scarpa has been getting used to his new surroundings over the weekend and saw his new teammates in action during a friendly on Friday night.

The player will officially check in on the 1st January when the transfer window opens. Last season, he was bang in form for Palmeiras, scoring 13 goals and claiming 15 assists as he helped the club win the league title.

Scarpa will sign a contract until 2026. As a result, the Reds will tie home down with the player in his prime and this does look like a strong deal that could prove very fruitful from a Forest perspective.

Following Scarpa’s arrival on Trentside, he’s told the fan base what they can expect from him. The player has stated that the move is something of a dream and he will be determined to make a success of things.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m very happy and it’s a dream for me.

“I’m a technical player but also I’ve developed my game defensively over the past couple of seasons.

“I am dedicated, hard-working and I’m excited to get started now.”

The Reds newbie was spotted skateboarding around the marketplace on Saturday. With the Christmas market now in full swing in Nottingham, the Brazilian was busy getting familiar with the city centre.

But, he will be judged by how he does on the football pitch. Scarpa is a player who has a wand of a left foot and that might bring some balance to the attacking ranks at Steve Cooper’s disposal.

The Reds need to score more goals. Only Wolves have scored fewer in the Premier League this season and perhaps Scarpa is viewed as someone who can now help the Reds become a force in front of goal.

Forest have mixed success with overseas signings. Hopefully, Scarpa can be a success and he can enjoy a long and fruitful career at the City Ground.
