Nottingham Forest star Jesse Lingard delivered a verdict on Tyson Fury on Instagram last night. The undefeated heavyweight world champion stopped Derek Chisora in the 10th round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night.
The 29-year-old star was missing from the Forest squad on Friday night. Steve Cooper’s team took on Stoke in their first mid-season friendly, losing 2-1 to the Championship outfit.
Lingard’s omission was nothing untoward. He was suffering through illness but should be on the mend for Forest’s friendly clashes in Athens where the entire squad have now travelled to continue training.
The Forest man saw the World Cup come at the wrong time. He was just starting to hit some serious form and now he will have to start getting in the groove all over again when football resumes.
Lingard took in the fight last night. It was a dominant performance from start to finish by Fury and to be totally honest, the clash was nothing short of a farce from it being made to it taking place.
Still, Lingard has weighed into the debate over where Fury sits as a champion. It’s fair to say that he doesn’t think anyone can hold a torch to the 34-year-old who now resides in Morecambe.
Forest star Lingard has delivered verdict on Tyson Fury
This was nothing short of a farce. Fury was ridiculously short odds to overcome Chisora and he retained his titles in pretty emphatic fashion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning in the tenth round.
Lingard was tuned in and he clearly enjoyed the fight. He took to Instagram shortly after the clash and called Fury the GOAT following another seriously impressive victory inside the squared circle.
Next up for the fighter should be a date with Oleksandr Usyk as the two scrappers try to unify the division with one fight for all of the heavyweight belts.
Lingard clearly fancies Fury as the top man in the division and it will be interesting to see what fight does come next for the supreme athlete.
