Nottingham Forest Under-18s claimed a very decent point against Manchester City this afternoon, with Jack Nadin in fantastic form again.

In fairness, it could and should have been so much more for the Reds. They led 2-0 against the side sitting second in the table but couldn’t hold on.

Nadin netted his first goal after just 10 minutes reacting quickest to pounce on some sloppy defending from the City rearguard.

His second came four minutes into the second half when he again showcased brilliant awareness to beat the goalkeeper from close range.

Sadly the Reds couldn’t hold on. An own goal from Danny Anijsko pulled one back for City and that got their tails up for the final half an hour.

Their dominance told six minutes from time. Jaden Heskey restored parity with the son of former England striker, Emile, scoring his third goal of the campaign.

It was a cruel break for the Reds. They fought tirelessly throughout the contest but that little bit of extra quality told for City in the end.

Forest are still enjoying a brilliant season. Some of their players are with the first-team in Greece so some first-year scholars featured today.

Nadin in fantastic form for Forest

The 18-year-old definitely looks like one to watch from a Forest perspective. He’s now scored six goals this season and he’s bounced back from injury with a vengeance.

He’s probably not close to the first team just yet but his time will definitely come. Last season, he was impressive as the Reds reached the FA Youth Cup Final before losing to Manchester United.

Nadin is keen to make up for lost time. He was an unused substitute in that final, given that he was carried out of the semi-final on a stretcher and for a young player that must have hurt him emotionally.

His versatility is arguably his greatest trait. Against City, he excelled as a number 10 behind two strikers but he is also occupying a position as one of the strikers too.
