Nottingham Forest winger Josh Bowler has been spotted doing something particularly brilliant during an Olympiacos training session. The forward is busy preparing for Saturday’s friendly against his parent club.

Forest beat a host of clubs to the signature of Bowler during the summer. He was added from Blackpool and cost the Reds a bargain £2 million, with the 23-year-old’s contract nearing an end.

It was met with serious angst by Blackpool supporters. They were keen for Forest to send their star man back to Bloomfield Road on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.

Bowler has spent just over a season at Blackpool. He was signed on a free transfer after leaving Everton, with former boss Neil Critchley striking gold by signing such a talented player.

When Forest added him to their ranks, the next step was somewhat surprising. The club chose to send him straight to Olympiacos on a season-long loan, despite many feeling he could help the Forest squad.

Bowler has found things somewhat difficult in Greece. The club’s new head coach hasn’t really taken to him and since Carlos Corberan departed he’s largely been used as an option from the bench.

He’s made just seven appearances for the Greek champions. As a result, the Reds must be seriously considering recalling him from that loan in January and possibly sending him to Blackpool on loan.

The left-footed performer was mesmerising during a recent session with his loan club. Forest fans will certainly be drooling at the thought of seeing Bowler in action at the City Ground.

First, he has the Reds in his sights, however. He will be in contention to play against Forest during Saturday’s friendly and he will hope to show Steve Cooper what sort of quality he’s purchased.

Training footage is always intriguing. With club football paused for the World Cup, fans are naturally keen to see what the players who are still at their clubs are up to when it comes to training.

Bowler might not be getting too many chances to strut his stuff on the pitch right now. It’s fair to say, however, that it’s not through a lack of trying in training with Olympiacos.
