Nottingham Forest youngster Julian Larsson has emerged as a transfer target for Olympiacos, according to reports. The talented player only signed a professional contract at the City Ground as recently as April.
Larsson arrived at Forest from AIK in 2020. He was signed at a time when Chris Cohen was in charge of the under-23 ranks and he spoke very highly of him during his time at the club.
The striker has been training with the first time this season. As a result, he’s only actually managed four appearances for the under-23s in their Premier League 2 campaign; failing to score a single goal yet.

Larsson was in fine form last season, however. He scored nine goals and claimed five assists as the Reds under-23s reached the play-offs in their very first season playing in the top-flight.
It’s not quite worked for him this season but he has lost his strike partner from last season. Will Swan struck up a wonderful partnership with the Swedish performer but this season he’s gone to Mansfield Town on loan.
At 21, Larsson is probably keen to get some regular football of his own. He has probably outgrown development games and perhaps a move would benefit all parties at this stage of his career.

It would be a shame to see the striker go without really getting a chance in the team. But, it’s fair to say that whilst the club are in the Premier League, he’s simply not going to play much football.
Forest have a number of strikers within their ranks. Taiwo Awoniyi, Emmanuel Dennis and Sam Surridge are all competing for the place through the middle in Steve Cooper’s team.

Further back there is Dale Taylor who looks like a burgeoning talent; whilst it’s fair to say that Detlef Esapa Osong is probably now more advanced than Larsson for a place in the first team.
Olympiacos could be a good move for the Swedish starlet. He will initially link up with the B Team but given the nature of the football in those parts, he could quickly become a star for the senior ranks.
