Bild have claimed that Arsenal are now in the race to sign Nottingham Forest-linked midfielder Djibril Sow. The Eintracht Frankfurt star recently starred at the World Cup playing alongside Remo Freuler for Switzerland.
Forest will likely go in search of more players during the January transfer window. Sow could be on their hit list, with at least one midfielder likely to be in the sights of the Reds’ recruitment team.
Cheikhou Kouyate sadly picked up a hamstring injury at the World Cup. He will now be missing for two months and that could see the Reds pursue a midfielder with a similar skill set.

Perhaps the Reds have identified Sow as a player who can offer that. It seems perfectly reasonable that the player could leave Frankfurt during the summer; although Forest could now be fighting a losing battle.
The 25-year-old has bags of potential and has already played plenty of games in a top European league. He’s played 137 times for Frankfurt and also helped them win the Europa League last season.
Forest made an offer of £17 million for Sow during the summer. However, it was rejected and the Reds pursued other options during a hectic transfer window from their perspective.
Arsenal now in the race to sign Forest-linked Sow
This isn’t good news for Forest. Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League and they look almost certain to be playing in the Champions League next season.
Sow will cost more than the £17 million that Forest bid in the summer. As a result, the extra finances could favour the Gunners more than the Reds during the next transfer window.

The player is a very capable performer. He’s mobile, holds his position well and would actually compliment compatriot Freuler just nicely.
Forest’s hopes are diminishing, however. Arsenal’s interest will likely tempt lots of other clubs and the Reds might have to turn their attention elsewhere.
