Nottingham Forest look to have lost the race to sign Atalanta playmaker Ruslan Malinovskyi, with Tottenham looking like the frontrunner.
The Reds were linked with a move for the Ukraine international during the summer. The interest came around shortly after Forest landed Remo Freuler from Atalanta.
Now, they look set to miss out on this particular deal; although the player is almost certain to leave the Serie A outfit during the transfer window.
Calciomercato claim that his current club aren’t happy with his most recent form. During 2022/23, he’s scored just once and claimed two assists from 14 outings.

As a result, they’re willing to cash in on the performer, with his contract due to expire next summer.
His form hasn’t deterred Tottenham from showing their interest and Antonio Conte could now get his man next month.
Marseille had been linked with a move too but their interest is now thought to be dropping off, much to the delight of Spurs.
Malinovskyi will be 30 next year and it now looks very unlikely that he will sign a new contract with Atalanta.
Forest were among the interested parties but it now looks impossible for the Reds to snare the 51-cap star from the clutches of Tottenham.
Forest have lost race to sign Malinovskyi
The left-footed performer is a midfielder who typically plays his football as a number 10.
As a result, he might have proved a useful signing for the Reds, with his long-range strike also capable of catching the eye.
Malinovskyi is a powerful performer and he’s proved himself as a bit of a set-piece specialist down the years.
Forest do have options in midfield and perhaps the signing of Gustavo Scarpa has deterred the club from Malinovskyi.

Still, he would have been a useful addition to the ranks and the fact he’s left-footed would have brought some balance to the team.
The January transfer window will be intriguing. Forest added 22 new players in the summer and the spotlight will be on once again.
Malinovskyi looks like one player that Forest have now lost the battle to sign.
