Gustavo Scarpa is the latest Nottingham Forest signing and some supporters are wondering whether or not he can play against Blackburn on Wednesday.
Some rumours have been flying around and we’ve decided to run the rule over this hot topic of discussion ahead of Wednesday.
Forest will look to return to football with a bang. Facing Rovers at Ewood Park won’t be easy though with Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team flying in the Championship.
But, can Scarpa make his debut for the Reds during the Carabao Cup clash? Let’s take a look…
Can Scarpa play for Forest against Blackburn?
In short, no, he won’t be eligible to make his debut against Blackburn in the League Cup last 16 clash.
Scarpa isn’t actually a Forest player in the sense of being able to play until the turn of the year.

At that point, he will be eligible to play for the Reds after his free transfer from Palmeiras.
The Brazilian forward has looked the part in the games he’s enjoyed a run-out in and he looks like an exciting addition.
He certainly doesn’t look short of confidence and he will be itching to get going when he’s able to make his Forest debut.
Scarpa has a wand of a left foot and against Atromitos, he helped himself to a couple of assists from set pieces.
Sadly though, he won’t be with his teammates at Blackburn and he will have to wait to make his debut.
When could Scarpa make his Forest debut?
Forest’s game with Chelsea has been pushed back 24 hours and now takes place on New Year’s Day.
Whether Forest can get him registered in time to make an appearance at the City Ground remains to be seen.

If they can’t then he could have to wait another three days until the Reds travel to Southampton.
In reality, a more ideal debut could come at the end of the first week of January when the Reds travel to Blackpool in the FA Cup.
