Fabrizio Romano says that rarely-seen Nottingham Forest man Loic Bade is closing in on signing for Sevilla. The La Liga outfit have agreed on a deal to sign the player and his loan with the Reds will be cancelled as soon as the transfer window opens next month.

The French defender hasn’t played a competitive fixture for the Reds. He was on the bench in October as Forest lost to Wolves but will likely leave having failed to make a single first-team appearance.

Sevilla looks like an intriguing move for him. It makes you wonder that if a top team in Spain are looking to sign him, why hasn’t he been utilised a bit more at Forest?

Nonetheless, Steve Cooper is the one who sees him in training every day. It’s also previously been claimed that Bade doesn’t speak a great deal of English and that has impacted his development.

The youngster is perhaps the right player at the wrong time for Forest. Cooper has instead chosen to use the central defenders he trusts from last season; with Willy Boly providing the experience.

Sevilla will actually pick up a similar deal to the one that Forest had Bade on. They will loan him for the remainder of the campaign and then sign him for £12 million in the summer.

Romano has claimed that the deal is now in the closing stages. For Bade, his race looks to be run at the City Ground.

It was an exciting time to be a Forest fan in the summer. The Reds were active in the transfer market as they tried to build a squad capable of staying up in the division.

Still, deals like this give lots of ammunition to those who believe that some of the signings weren’t Cooper’s and that some won’t make the grade at the City Ground.

It will go down as one of Forest’s more bizarre deals in recent times. Bade hasn’t been given a chance at all and it will be intriguing to see how he does at Sevilla.

Bade’s departure will create a gap in the squad. As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another central defender signed before the January window closes.
