Nottingham Forest need 29-year-old fit, he loves playing against Manchester United

Nottingham Forest will hope that Serge Aurier is fit to face Manchester United given that his record at Old Trafford isn’t bad at all.

The defender missed Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Blackburn with a knock but will hope to be right for the United game.

Forest have been pretty poor away from home all season. They have claimed just two points on the road, drawing against Everton and Brighton.

A game against an in-form United is hardly the ideal first game back but they will hope to catch the Red Devils a little bit cold.

Having players with the experience of Aurier in their team will certainly be of use for Steve Cooper.

The Ivorian defender has been a magnificent free transfer for the Reds and he’s made eight appearances for the club.

He has been suffering with a small knock, however, and he didn’t feature at all against Blackburn.

Cooper has claimed that he’s not concerned about Aurier and that he hopes he can feature at Old Trafford.

Forest will certainly hope so and it seems as though it’s a place where he holds fond memories.

In 2020 he was part of the Tottenham team that enjoyed one of their best days in the Premier League era.

They defeated United in a behind-closed-doors clash in the Covid-19 era 6-1, with Aurier getting himself among the goals.

He played in a 3-0 win in 2018 too and was also part of the team that was beaten 1-0 and 2-1 at Old Trafford on other occasions.

Forest will hope Aurier is fit to face United

This would definitely be a welcome boost to Forest as they face another thankless Premier League challenge.

Aurier has the experience of playing in front of a raucous Old Trafford crowd and it would appear he thrives on that.

Forest do have Neco Williams waiting to play if he doesn’t pass his fitness test but Aurier would be a more useful option.

The 29-year-old has been a very shrewd addition to the Forest ranks. He will get better with the more games he plays and the Reds are lucky to have him.

Having Aurier in their ranks at Old Trafford might just be the key towards a positive result.
