Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs interested in signing World Cup star Selim Amallah, according to Nieuws Blad. La Liga giants Valencia are also in the mix for the player who currently plays for Standard Liege.

The 26-year-old was part of the Morocco squad that created history at the World Cup. The Atlas Lions became the first African side to reach the semi-final of the competition, losing to France in the last four.

Amallah has been tipped for a bigger club by Morocco boss Walid Regragui. He said in an interview with Goal over Christmas: “Amallah will surely find a better club very soon.”

The attacking midfielder was instrumental for Morocco in Qatar. He started five of the seven games they played at the tournament as they finished in fourth place.

It seems for all the world that he will leave Liege in the near future. At present, he’s playing alongside Forest promotion-winner Philip Zinckernagel who joined the club in August.

Amallah has bigger fish to fry though. He’s at the age where he’s approaching his prime and a top European league seems where he is destined to play at some point in his career.

Forest interested in Amallah and they’re a step up from Liege right now

Although Forest are currently in the bottom three of the Premier League, it’s fair to say that they’re a step up from Standard Liege who are sixth in the Belgian First Division.

Amallah is energetic and showcased a desire to work hard during the World Cup. During nine outings this season, he’s scored four goals and claimed a single assist for his current club.

At 26, the player will be approaching his prime very soon. As a result, Forest could land a quality international with his best years ahead of him at a reasonable price.

Amallah could bring something a little bit different to Forest’s squad. He will be full of confidence after the World Cup and Steve Cooper could certainly do a lot worse.
