Nottingham Forest will recall Josh Bowler from his loan spell with Olympiacos, according to John Percy reporting for The Telegraph. The 23-year-old joined the Greek champions in the summer but has now fallen down the pecking order.

Forest are keen for the tricky performer to be playing regular football. He’s not been doing that for Olympiacos, making just seven appearances for the club, with three of those coming in the starting eleven.

Blackpool are fighting desperately for their Championship status. They currently occupy a place in the bottom three of the second tier and Michael Appleton has a big job on his hands.

Having Bowler back in their ranks looks like a really positive signing. He started the season strongly for the Tangerines, scoring twice in seven games as Blackpool won two and drew two of their opening fixtures.

Since his departure, things have been pretty bleak for Appleton’s team. They’re currently without a win in their last five games and having Bowler back would give everyone a huge lift.

Forest have added Gustavo Scarpa to their ranks this month. With that in mind, the club feel as though Bowler will be better served going back out on loan and Blackpool will get their man.

The youngster will be desperate to get back to playing regular first-team football. He will have benefitted from training with the likes of Marcelo and James Rodriguez but the lack of minutes was a worry.

Now, he will head back to Blackpool and aim to help them preserve their status as a Championship club for another season. Bloomfield Road is the place where he’s played his best stuff and that can only help.

Bowler can be a big player for the Reds in the future. He is quick, skilful and has the ability to make something out of nothing which could help the Reds after the 2022/23 campaign.

In the short-term playing football is the most important thing for the former Everton man. David Unsworth once called the player ‘magic’ and if he gets going at Blackpool again he could dazzle the second tier.
