Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has claimed that he’s looking forward to working with sporting director Filippo Giraldi during the January transfer window.
It’s the first time the pair have worked on transfers together. The Forest hierarchy made some changes to the recruitment team after a poor start to their Premier League campaign.
George Syrianos was one of the main casualties; with Andy Scott also leaving the club after a 4-0 defeat to Leicester saw Evangelos Marinakis spring into action.

Now Giraldi will have a chance to get to work. He will operate in tandem with Cooper and he’s claimed the early signs have been positive.
He told the Independent: “I’ve been working really closely with him on a daily basis and the lines of communication are good. It’s all joined-up thinking.
“It’s a joined-up approach, there’s no doubt. We’ve had changes in recruitment that people know about.
“Communication lines are good. My focus is on the players who are available to train, ultimately that’s what my job is.”
Giraldi arrived from Watford with a burgeoning reputation. There, he helped bring players like Richarlison, Etienne Capoue and Ismaila Sarr to the club.
Cooper looking forward to working with Girlaldi
The Reds have to get things right on the recruitment front this time around. Although some summer deals look brilliant, others simply haven’t worked out.
Giraldi will aim to help the club do what those before him couldn’t. Some real quality could help the team stay in the Premier League this season.
Several players have already been linked with a move to the club. It seems pretty clear, however, that quality over quantity will be targeted this month.

One thing that should delight supporters, however, is that there is a clear joined-up thinking approach at the club.
It’s been well documented that some players have been signed against the wishes of various managers in recent times.
Now, that doesn’t seem to be the case and it will be interesting to see who Cooper and Giraldi can land over the next few weeks.
