Southampton v Nottingham Forest: What’s the story?
As far as six-point fixtures go, they don’t get much bigger than this. Tonight’s game is real relegation ding-dong and if Forest can claim a first away win of the season, it could be massive.
Forest have scored just once on the road this season. Not since Brennan Johnson scored in the game against Everton in August, have the Reds found the net away from the City Ground in the Premier League.
If Forest are bad away from home, Southampton have really poor form on their own turf. They have the worst home form in the league and will hope to put that right tonight.
Nathan Jones has lost all three of the games he’s taken charge of since replacing Ralph Hasenhuttl and he has some serious work to do.
Forest will know exactly what style of play he will try to adopt tonight. The Reds have come up against the burgeoning coach several times when he was in charge of Luton.
The Reds can escape the relegation zone should they claim all three points tonight. A lose could see them return to the foot of the table by the end of the night.
Steve Cooper will know that his team have to be better on their travels. If the Reds have any desire to stay up this season, they can’t solely rely on their home form alone.
Is tonight’s game on TV?
Sadly not but fear not, Colin Fray will have live radio commentary on the usual frequencies, with kick-off at the earlier than usual time of 19:30.
