Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Southampton:

Dean Henderson – 6

Once again found himself with very little to do during the game. There was only one shot on target throughout the whole game but his handling in the closing stages was outstanding.

Serge Aurier – 7

The Frenchman wasn’t quite as good as he was against Chelsea on Sunday when he scored. He was typically energetic, however, and did his job superbly well.

Joe Worrall – 8

The best he’s played for weeks! What a performance. Worrall was truly outstanding and epitomised his role of wearing the captain’s armband.

Willy Boly – 8

Like Worrall, Boly was brilliant. He headed or kicked everything that was thrown at him during a big 90 minutes for the former Wolves man.

Renan Lodi – 6

Did okay but found himself up against Southampton’s best player on the night in Kyle Walker-Peters. He won’t want to see him again any time soon that is for sure.

Ryan Yates – 7

Typically dogged but almost cost Forest dearly by giving away a needless free-kick which James Ward-Prowse fired over the bar.

Remo Freuler – 5

Not his best night and looked somewhat tired throughout the clash. He will be back though and he’s been due a below-par performance. Proved here that he is human.

Orel Mangala – 6

The midfielder, like Freuler, looked absolutely spent. Did show some nice touches, however, but was correctly substituted after the break.

Brennan Johnson – 8

Brilliant showing from Johnson. This was everything that the Reds supporters know that he is capable of. He ran at his full-back for the entire time he was on the pitch. Man of the Match.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 6

Not his best showing and he did struggle to get involved through the middle on this occasion. He was constantly trying to get involved, it was just one of those games that didn’t suit him.

Taiwo Awoniyi – 8

Grabbed another goal and frankly, the boy is getting better with every passing appearance. It’s time Forest forget about Keinan Davis and threw their weight behind this lad instead. Incredible again.

Jack Colback for Mangala – 6

Neat and tidy, worked hard.

Sam Surridge for Awoniyi – 6

Strong and determined but clearly annoyed referee Thomas Bramall as he didn’t give him a free-kick all night.

Gustavo Scarpa for Gibbs-White – 7

Made two lovely passes and looks like being a nice player for the Reds to work with in the coming weeks.

Harry Toffolo for Lodi – N/A

Neco Williams for Johnson – N/A
