Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has raved about Gustavo Scarpa but says he has to watch him closely in training. The Brazilian looks set to be in the Forest squad for the first time this evening at Southampton.
Scarpa has been training with his teammates for a few weeks now. He’s joined the City Ground ranks from Palmeiras where he helped them win the league title in 2022.
The forward’s performances were so impressive that he claimed a huge accolade. Scarpa lifted the Golden Ball which is given to the best player in the whole division at the end of the season.

Now, he’s set to embark on his self-acclaimed European dream at Forest. At 28-years-old, he should be at the peak of his powers and he looks like an exciting addition.
Cooper has been impressed with the player so far. He has, however, suggested that he needs to watch him closely in training and it’s for all the right reasons.
The head coach told Nottinghamshire Live: “I’ve got to say he’s a very good trainer. He’s one that you have to monitor because he just wants to do so much more. He loves football and has spent a lot of time learning about the way we want to play.”
Cooper has raved about Cooper but when will he pick him?
Scarpa has definitely travelled with the Forest squad for tonight’s fixture against Southampton. After a sound display against Chelsea, however, Cooper might select the same team once again.
He’s likely to be on the bench though and it will be interesting to see if he does get on the pitch or not. Certainly, the player will be desperate to show what he can do when he’s called upon.

Scarpa looks to have a wand of a left foot. As a result, perhaps he can provide some useful deliveries from set-pieces and get Forest scoring more goals that way going forward.
It’s great to hear that he appears to be settling in nicely at the City Ground. Scarpa looks like a wonderful character and hopefully, he can help Forest avoid relegation from the Premier League.
