Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook has reacted on Twitter in the aftermath of a 1-0 win for the team against Southampton. The centre-back has taken to Twitter to heap praise on the club’s supporters after their first away win in the Premier League for 24 years.

The 31-year-old has made 12 appearances in the Premier League during 2021/22. However, he’s sat out the last four games, with Steve Cooper sticking with the partnership of Joe Worrall and Willy Boly.

Cook is a model professional though and will understand that his role in the team might not be guaranteed. The ex-Bournemouth player has been at the City Ground for over a year now and has proved a useful signing.

His form last season was brilliant. He was a large part of the promotion victory and deserves his place in Forest folklore as being an integral piece in Steve Cooper’s promotion jigsaw.

Cook will still be an important squad player for the Reds during 2022/23. Given that he’s now 31-years-old, however, it seems likely that it will be either him or Boly that plays with one other central defender.

Interestingly, the next game could hand Cook a chance to play. Forest will go to Blackpool on Saturday in the FA Cup and with Wolves to come in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Cooper could ring the changes.

Forest defender Cook has reacted on Twitter and he still has a role to play

Although regular game time is unlikely to be on the horizon in the Premier League, Cook still has a part to play at the City Ground.

He’s been there and seen it all during his career. As a result, the influence he can impose on some of the younger players in the dressing room could be absolutely massive this season.

Cook still conducts himself in a professional manner and he will be itching to get involved again. Furthermore, it’s clear that he’s a big fan of doing what is right by the club’s ardent supporters.

After last night’s game, he took to Twitter. He praised the team for their performance but couldn’t help but praise the fans who made the long trip for a midweek clash.
