Nottingham Forest are one of the club’s thought to be interested in American player John Tolkin, according to MLS Transfers. The Reds aren’t the only club keen, with Anderlecht and Salzburg also monitoring the situation.
RB Leipzig are also eyeing a move for the player, with Forest facing vast competition. The left-back won’t be easy to obtain given that he’s got a contract at New York Red Bulls until 2027.
It’s an interesting link though and the 20-year-old looks like an attractive signing. He’s young, talented and would surely jump at the chance to sign a deal in a top European league.

Forest aren’t thought to be leading the chase. That mantra goes to Salzburg in Austria and they have a proven track record of nurturing players and then earning mega bucks from their sales in the future.
Tolkin made 37 appearances in all competitions during last season’s MLS season. He scored twice and registered four assists from a natural left-back position and clearly, his form has caught the eye.
It would seem strange if Forest went out and signed another left-back. They currently have Renan Lodi, Harry Toffolo and when he returns to fitness, Omar Richards vying for the place.
Forest interested in Tolkin
Given the nature of the club’s interested in Tolking, this one doesn’t look overly likely. There is a real sense that this is a lethal concoction of agents and the media mixing together.
Furthermore, the Reds don’t really need a left-back. Although they won’t abandon plans for the future, it seems unlikely that he will want to come to Forest and sit on the fringes.

Steve Cooper has bigger fish to fry this month. He will want players that can come into his team and make an immediate impact on the starting eleven /
That player doesn’t seem like Tolkin and perhaps there is some work from the player’s agent to try and get him a move to Salzburg or Anderlecht.
Rumour rating: 4/10 – We just can’t see this one taking place. There would be lots of factors needed to happen for the Reds to get Tolkin and it doesn’t look like falling into place.
