Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has been quizzed on the departure of Dane Murphy by Sky Sports earlier today. The Reds announced the American’s departure earlier today after 18 months at the club.
Murphy was the man who was essentially responsible for bringing Cooper to the club. He was appointed after Chris Hughton was dismissed following a poor start to the 2022/23 campaign.
Cooper achieved legendary status within a few months on Trentside. He led Forest from the bottom of the Championship into the Premier League in a short space of time.

Now, the Reds are trying to be more competitive in the top-flight. They beat Southampton last week to claim their first win away from the City Ground in the Premier League for 24 years.
Cooper will see his side entertain Wolves on Wednesday in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
Today, he was quizzed on the departure of Murphy but it would appear that Cooper isn’t fazed by the CEO mutually agreeing to leave the Reds.
He told Sky Sports: “I don’t see any change personally. Fairly recently the club appointed Filippo Giraldi and most of, if not all of my dialogue on a daily basis has been with him.
“I’ve been working really closely with him over the last few months and obviously at the moment, it’s a busy time.
“There isn’t anything imminent about to happen. I know if something was I would be fully aware but I do know there’s a lot going on.
“I trust Fillipo that when the time is right and something is set to happen he will tell me.”
Cooper quizzed on Murphy departure
It should leave some of the more sceptical supporters that Cooper seems quite blase about this. He seems happy working with Giraldi and that should be all anyone needs to hear.

The Reds have important games coming up and Cooper can ill-afford to take his eye off the ball. If anything, Murphy’s departure looks to have been in the offing for a few months now.
Forest face Wolves on Wednesday and then play Leicester on Saturday in a real six-pointer in the Premier League.
Cooper’s focus will remain solely on those fixtures and perhaps supporters need to follow suit and quickly get over Murphy’s departure.
