Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White enjoyed silencing the Wolves fans who pelted him with abuse last night.

The image of him cupping his ears to the Wolves fans after dispatching his penalty will go down as iconic.

The 22-year-old clearly enjoyed the moment and it completely burnt any remaining bridges he might have had with Wolves fans.

Gibbs-White played the full 90 minutes for the Reds as they won 4-3 on penalties to reach the semi-final of the competition.

He was largely impressive and never stopped trying his best to get Forest on the front foot during the clash.

Gibbs-White came through the youth ranks at Molineux. He made 88 appearances for the club before leaving in the summer.

The Forest star has been very open in claiming that he had fallen out of love with football during his time at Wolves.

As a result, he jumped at the chance to join Forest and reunite with Steve Cooper who has managed him before.

Gibbs-White was part of the England under-17 outfit that won the World Cup several years ago and also worked with Cooper at Swansea.

He’s now settled at Forest and when he’s fit, he’s considered one of the first names on the team sheet.

Gibbs-White silenced Wolves fans and Forest teammates react

His antics last night won’t have been everyone’s cup of tea. It’s fair to say his teammates have defended them though.

After the game, he posted an image of him sticking his fingers in his ears at the Wolves fans on Instagram.

He received comments from Jesse Lingard, Brennan Johnson and Serge Aurier, with all three players having a laugh at his antics.

Aurier suggested it was ‘yoga time’, with his comment and the Ivorian was once again brilliant on the night.

Lingard replied to Gibbs-White with the comment, ‘Yezzirskii’, which was a play on Yes Sir that the players can often be found saying to each other on social media.

Johnson also commented and simply put, ‘talk to them bro’, followed by emojis that symbolised someone sticking their fingers in their ears.

Gibbs-White will have to face Wolves again this season when Forest face them in the league.

That promises to be a hostile affair now and the Reds will hope they can come out on top once more.
