Nottingham Forest and Brentford are scrapping it out to sign Dynamo Kyiv winger Viktor Tsygankov, according to Sport Arena. The Reds are still in the market for another player or two this month, after announcing the signing of Brazilian midfielder Danilo.
Forest have some injury problems to contend with at the moment. Forward Jesse Lingard is nursing a problem, although he is thought to be making progress, whilst Steve Cooper doesn’t seem overly convinced with some of his other options.
Sam Surridge has been used as a substitute a lot but Emmanuel Dennis has hardly played since joining from Watford. As a result, a reshuffle of the attacking ranks might be on the agenda for the Forest head coach before the end of the month.

Tsygankov has spent his whole career with Kyiv. He’s emerged through the club’s academy ranks and has made 236 appearances for the Ukrainian giants. Now, however, a move could be on the cards for the right-sided winger.
The player is in fine form during 2022/23. He’s found the net nine times and also registered six assists, making him one of the top goal contributors in the division right now.
Forest and Brentford are thought to be scrapping it out to sign the 25-year-old. He may not cost a fortune either, with the player set to see his contract expire next summer.
The Premier League duo might not be alone either in this race. It’s claimed in the report that Newcastle, Wolves and West Ham have all monitored the player; with Dortmund and Leipzig also keen.
In 2016, Tsygankov was given some high praise indeed. He was compared to recently retired Gareth Bale by UEFA.com following some superb performances.
Forest want to sign Tsygankov and he could prove useful
This doesn’t look a bad deal on the face of things. The Ukrainian player is at a nice age, boasts lots of skill and can clearly create and score goals.
Clearly, one minor problem would be a lack of Premier League experience. Still, other players were signed in the summer with zero experience and have adapted to the league well.

Tsygankov might have a preference to go to London and that would suit Brentford. His game time could be higher at Forest though and perhaps he will take that into consideration.
Rumour rating: 5/10 – A bit of a middle-of-the-road rumour. When lots of clubs are linked, alarm bells do start to ring that it could be nothing more than agent talk.
Let’s wait and see what develops with this one.
