Nottingham Forest are the latest club to put Leece captain Morten Hjulmand in their transfer sights this month, according to Rudy Galetti. The Reds have joined Southampton and Leeds in the race to sign the 23-year-old before the window closes.
Forest have already signed one midfielder this month with Brazilian wonderkid Danilo. Furthermore, they’re set to sign Newcastle striker Chris Wood in a loan deal until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Hjulmand has been with the Serie A outfit for two years. He signed for the club from Danish club Admira Wacker and before that he came through the academy system with FC Copenhagen.

The youngster has quickly established himself at Leece. He’s been trusted with the captain’s armband too and it could take a sizeable offer to prise him away from the Serie A outfit.
Southampton are perhaps leading the chase to sign Hjulmand. They’ve already made a bid of £9.6 million and are expected to return with another offer before the end of the month.
Hjulmand has 18 months to run on his contract at Leece. With the club in mid-table at the moment they won’t want to lose him as they bid to enjoy a decent campaign.
Forest have Hjulmand in their sights
This one perhaps doesn’t make much sense from a Forest perspective. With the addition of Danilo, the Reds have a growing list of midfielders to choose from.
Ryan Yates, Remo Freuler and Orel Mangala are the current players in possession of the shirt. Danilo joins Lewis O’Brien in challenging those two for a place in the team.

Hjulmand does look like a useful player though. His form has earned some recognition from the Denmark national team; although he’s not yet claimed a cap when he’s been called up.
Rumour rating: 4/10 – The reason we’ve gone so low is that this one just doesn’t make sense. Steve Cooper now has more than enough midfielders and perhaps this is the player’s agent trying to get Southampton or Leeds to part with a bigger transfer fee. Nothing against Hjulmand, we just don’t think Forest will sign him.
