Nottingham Forest have signed Chris Wood from Newcastle and a trio of St James’ Park stars have reacted to the departure.
It’s been the worst-kept secret in Nottingham that Wood would be signing and today the deal has been completed.
The 31-year-old talisman has swapped a race to win a Champions League place for a fight against relegation and his experience could be telling.
Forest are 13th in the Premier League but with things tight at the bottom, the Reds still have work to do.
Wood has scored 54 Premier League goals across spells with Newcastle and Burnley and he knows what it takes at this level.

His time at Newcastle saw him often play second fiddle. Particularly during 2022/23, he’s fallen behind Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak in the pecking order.
Wood has joined Forest on loan until the end of the season, with the Reds having an obligation to sign him if certain performance-level criteria are met.
The experienced player signed for Newcastle for £25 million in January 2022. He was an integral part of the team that steered well clear of relegation under Eddie Howe.
He scored some important goals last season and now Forest will hope that he can do the same during his time on Trentisde.
Trio of Newcastle stars react as Wood makes departure
Eddie Howe praised Wood earlier today. He called the player ‘outstanding’ during his time at Newcastle and wished him well.
Now, three Newcastle players have commented on Wood’s Instagram after the player signed terms at Forest.
Fabian Schar was the first to comment and he said: “What a guy.”
Next up, it was the turn of Joe Willock. He’s been in fine form this season and he posted: “Good luck bro.”

Finally, it was arguably the Newcastle Player of the Year so far, with Bruno Guimaraes saying: “Good luck my bro.”
Hopefully, Wood can become a popular figure at Forest too.
The Reds have turned a huge corner in recent weeks and they head to Bournemouth tomorrow on the back of two successive league wins.
If Wood can score a few goals during his time at Forest, he could prove to be a superb signing for the Reds.
