Eagled-eyed Nottingham Forest supporters spotted something heartwarming yesterday as Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo featured in a squad together for the first time.

The Brazilian duo have both signed this month from Palmeiras. Last season they helped the club win the top-flight title and now the pair have their sights on helping Forest stay in the Premier League.

Both players started on the bench yesterday. Danilo was introduced just before half-time; with Scarpa playing the last 30 minutes as Forest chased an equaliser against Bournemouth.

Defensive midfielder Danilo did exceptionally well. It wasn’t easy for him to get the nod when Ryan Yates felt ill just before half time but it was a composed debut from the 21-year-old.

Scarpa changed the game for the better from a Forest perspective. He helped carve out more chances for the team and is constantly looking to get on the front foot.

The 29-year-old has settled in nicely and has done something pretty useful in every game he’s played. He looks like a player who is in his prime and could benefit Forest this season.

Both players look like very good additions. Danilo will naturally have to work hard to get a regular place in the team but he looks like a quality player for the future.

Going to work in a new country is daunting. For a 21-year-old it must feel extremely difficult at times and Forest are clearly keen to help their overseas players settle down.

Yesterday a photo was taken by Gustavo Scarpa and placed on his Instagram. It showed a poster of him on his peg, with a photograph of his family watermarked into his Forest shirt.

The same was done for Danilo and although it might not seem like much, this kind of thing can only help. Coming from Brazil is bound to be tricky for any new player and this is a classy touch.

Steve Cooper posted inspirational messages from the players’ families ahead of the play-off final last season. This latest touch of brilliance speaks volumes of the man and his man-mangament skills are definitely something to get fans excited.
