Nottingham Forest are the most serious contender to sign Keylor Navas this month, according to Mundo Deportivo. Furthermore, the Reds have been told that they can sign the PSG custodian for just £4 million before the transfer window closes.

The Reds could turn to another goalkeeper before the window slams shut. Dean Henderson is out injured for a minimum of four weeks and that could leave the Reds short should anything happen to current stand-in option Wayne Hennessey.

Navas has fallen behind Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order at PSG. With his contract up in the summer, this will be the last chance for the French champions to make any money on the Costa Rica international.

The 36-year-old has enjoyed a wonderful career. He helped Real Madrid win three Champions League titles and has won leagues in Spain and France during his playing days.

Navas has been praised by Mauricio Pochettino in the past. When he was in charge of PSG he called him ‘quality’ after a win over Barcelona in the Champions League.

Now, Navas could be swapped rubbing shoulders with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White, with Forest leading the chase.

The report claims that Forest are the most serious placed team to sign him. Landing him would be quite something and the Reds will hope this deal can bear some fruit.

This would be quite something. The Reds are in the running to sign a goalkeeper who has been largely viewed as one of the best in the world when he was in his prime.

Costa Rica didn’t have the best World Cup campaign. Navas did play in all three matches against Germany, Spain and Costa Rica, however, and remains the first choice on the international stage.

Navas could bring some vital experience to the City Ground. He played 162 times for Real Madrid and has also made 107 appearances for PSG.

Not too many players can say they’ve joined the 100 club at two clubs of such epic proportion. At £4 million, Navas looks like a no-brainer from a Forest perspective.
