Nottingham Forest have been linked with an ambitious raid on Everton to sign Anthony Gordon, according to 90Min. The Reds will face stiff competition, however, with Newcastle, Aston Villa, Leicester and Chelsea all remaining keen.
Gordon has been with Everton his entire career. He has risen through the academy ranks on Merseyside and made 78 appearances for the senior outfit.
Everton are in a spot of bother though. Under Frank Lampard, the team appears to be sleepwalking towards relegation and are currently 19th in the Premier League.

As a result, Gordon could be offloaded during the January transfer window. He was the subject of a £45 million bid from Chelsea in the summer but the Toffees stood firm in the wake of selling Richarlison to Tottenham.
Now, their stance could change. Lampard is desperate to reshuffle his squad and in order to do that he will need to sell some players before he can make wholesale changes.
Gordon was expected to sign a new deal on the back of the Chelsea links in the summer. However, there has been an impasse in those negotiations and Everton might have to consider a sale.
Alan Shearer is a huge fan of the Everton younger. He called him ‘fearless’ back in July and perhaps interestingly, Newcastle are now one of the teams keen to sign him.
Forest linked with ambitious raid to sign Gordon
This would be quite a signing. Gordon would likely command a pretty heft transfer fee but ultimately, Forest would be more than capable of bettering the wages he takes him at Everton.
The competition makes this deal a hard one for Forest to complete. Newcastle are chasing a Champions League place, whilst Chelsea are one of the country’s biggest clubs.
Gordon can play anywhere across the front three. He’s found the net just three times during 2022/23 and perhaps he needs to register more assists and score more goals.

Rumour rating: 5/10 – We like this one but we just can’t see the 21-year-old being tempted by Forest when so many established Premier League clubs are interested.
Gordon is the sort of player that could thrive under Steve Cooper. He’s young, determined and as a player who is willing to work hard, he looks tailor-made for the Reds boss.
As much as we’d love it to happen, we just don’t believe it will.
