Loic Mbe Soh finally completed his loan move from Nottingham Forest to Guingamp yesterday. After the move went through, he received heartfelt Instagram messages from Serge Aurier, Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence.

The Reds defender desperately needs to play some first-team football. He’s been at the City Ground since the summer of 2020 and made just 13 appearances in the Garibaldi.

Mbe Soh was signed from PSG as a player with bags of potential. He had been nominated for the FIFA Golden Ball award as a teenager and made three appearances for their first team.

The defender was way down the pecking order under Steve Cooper. He did make an appearance against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup and came on as a substitute against Blackpool in the FA Cup.

It’s not enough though and loaning him out makes perfect sense. Guingamp are struggling somewhat in Ligue 2 and he should go there and make his mark on the team immediately.

Mbe Soh typically operates as a central defender. During his time at Forest, however, he has found himself being called upon to play at full-back on certain occasions.

The 21-year-old still has bags of potential. This loan move could be massive for the player as he looks to prove that he can forge a career for himself at the City Ground.

After the move was completed, two current Forest stars and Spence reacted on Instagram, with the player clearly a popular figure behind the scenes at Forest.

Johnson had a good luck message for Mbe Soh, saying, “Good luck brother”, whilst Aurier said, “Let’s go out there to see, let’s go.”

Spence was a massively popular figure at Forest. Plenty of supporters still want him back and he also had a message for Mbe Soh, saying: “MB! Let’s go bro.”

Only time will tell how Mbe Soh goes at Guingamp. If he stays fit, he should become a really big player for them and next season he might fancy making his mark on the Forest team.
