Nottingham Forest are focusing on signing Keylor Navas on loan before the end of the month, according to Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse.

The Reds would like to add another custodian to their ranks. Dean Henderson has been ruled out for around a month and that has provided a problem.

Behind him, Forest have Jordan Smith, George Shelvey and Adnan Kanuric but the trio are some distance from being ready for the Premier League.

Navas has been linked with a move to the Reds for a couple of weeks. The PSG man is out of contract in the summer and doesn’t look like earning an extension.

It was reported yesterday that the Reds could sign him for £4 million this month. However, it’s now claimed that a loan move is something under consideration by Forest.

Navas seems keen to come to the Premier League. He would need convincing to join Forest, however, with the Reds hardly one of the Premier League’s top clubs.

The experienced goalkeeper has won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid and was considered the number one at PSG under Mauricio Pochettino.

Navas was in World Cup action for Costa Rica last month; although the nation were knocked out at the group stages of the tournament.

The Reds would clearly like another goalkeeper this month and that asks some questions about the injury sustained by Henderson.

Originally it was claimed that he could only miss four weeks of action. If that is the case he’d likely be back for the trip to Fulham early next month.

Signing a goalkeeper on loan if that was the case wouldn’t make sense. Hennessey is a proven performer as it is and surely he could deputise for potentially one more game.

Still, the signing of Navas would hardly be a bad thing. He does earn £200,000-a-week at PSG but they’d likely subsidise a large amount of that should he join Forest on loan.

Pochettino was open in praising Navas during his time at PSG. He called him ‘quality’, with the player also receiving compliments from Lionel Messi.
