Nottingham Forest will miss out on Arnaut Danjuma with Tottenham set to hijack Everton’s completed deal for the Villarreal star.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte will land the Dutchman on loan until the end of the season.

Danjuma was linked with Forest earlier this month but it was Everton that felt they had won the race to sign him.

Over the weekend, the 25-year-old underwent a medical at Goodison Park and the final paperwork just needed a signature.

Frank Lampard was sacked yesterday. Clearly, that has muddied the waters somewhat and Dunjuma has made a U-turn.

Villarreal have decided to loan out the versatile forward and a chance to join Tottenham is a huge opportunity.

It’s claimed that he will sign on loan and the man who cost Villarreal £21.3 million will stay there until the summer.

Forest had been willing to land Danjuma and were definitely in the race; with Southampton and Bournemouth also keen.

It’s likely the interest from Forest wavered given the impact of Gustavo Scarpa and a different type of forward will perhaps be sought.

This news is of further detriment to Everton and they just can’t catch a break at the moment.

Tottenham hijack Everton deal for Danjuma, Forest were keen

This won’t come as a particularly major blow to Forest. It was always going to be tough to sign him and joining Tottenham makes sense.

They’re a team that competes in the higher echelons of the division and Forest can’t really compete with that.

One thing that this does do, however, is rob a relegation rival of Forest of a chance to land a really good player.

Danjuma is tricky and can play either out wide or through the middle as a centre-forward.

The talented Holland player was called ‘spectacular’ by Pierre van Hooijdonk and now he gets another crack at the Premier League.

Danjuma scored 16 goals last season for Villarreal and it seems crystal clear that Tottenham are getting a fine player.
